The Developers
Richard & Libbie Wilson

In 1990 Richard and Libbie Wilson and family of Banana Station, Banana, recognised what a catalyst the marina development would be to growth in Central Queensland and purchased the development company Keppel Gateway.

Construction began immediately constructing rock walls enclosing Rosslyn Bay with 680,000 tonnes of rock and reclaiming 12 hectares of land with 600,000 cubic metres of fill by dredging the 14 hectare harbour basin an extra 3 metres deep.

The first 190 berths of the Marina and the Marina Centre building were opened in April 1996. The Marina Centre has the marina office, chandlery, brokerage, tourist services and Waterline Café. The boatyard on the northern section operates a 40 tonne travelift and full boat repair and maintenance services.

Attention to design for the climate, colours for continuity of effect and landscape to complement surrounding National Parks and buildings have resulted in the development to date winning many architectural, building, landscape and tourism awards.
